Blooming typical - the ONE weekend I'm not in Phoenix, Atomic Comics throw a day-long Doctor Who party!

I can't believe it.

Just when I've summoned up the courage to defy my social anxiety and go to BurlyCon....what I'm told is one of the best comic shops in the world (by Goth Child, not quite sure how she knows) Atomic Comics in Chandler decides to throw a Doctor Who Tardis Party:

• Doctor Who being shown on a big screen all day from all regenerations
• A trivia contest
• Local artists doing Doctor Who sketches

AND

• A Doctor Who costume contest!!!

All happening on Sunday 17th October, when I'm at BurlyCon (I've said that already haven't I?)

I could have worn my Dalek costume (from my very first and still one of my favourite burlesque routines).

Sad now :(

I've nearly always* loved Doctor Who from first watching Jon Pertwee as a little kid, hiding behing the settee, loving the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Sea Devils etc etc.

I built my first Tardis model (with a kit from Blue Peter after I'd sent them my stamped addressed envelope) when I was 9.

I married a fellow Doctor Who fan and we've raised two total Whovian nerds...

...and consequently made multiple birthday Dalek chocolate cakes.

And I get just as excited now at 42 when I hear the Doctor Who theme tune as I did when I was 9.

I love Doctor Who.

I can't wait for Matt Smith's first Christmas special! (Bow ties ARE cool).

I got excited when I saw the St. John's Ambulance logo re-appear on the latest version of the Tardis.

I carry a chameleon arch fob watch in my handbag (translation: purse).
