So at the beginning of February I set out to watch (or have watched) as many of the 56 movies nominated for this year's Oscars before the ceremony on Sunday 27th February.
And although I haven't blogged reviews on them I've managed to watch 31 of the 56:
- all 10 films nominated for Best Picture
- all 5 out of 5films up for Supporting Actor, Directing, Cinematography, Art Direction, Film Editing, Original Score, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Adapted Screenplay
- 4 out of 5 for Leading Actor, Supporting Actress, Costume Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Original Screenplay
- 2 out of 3 for Animated Feature
- 3 out of 5 for Leading Actress
- 2 out of 5 for Documentary Feature
The only categories I have no knowledge at all of who should win are Documentary Short, Best Foreign Language Film (although I did see some foreign language films in other categories) and Make-up.
So I gave it a pretty good shot and watched the following (links to my posts reviewing them where applicable):
- Black Swan (yep, I finally did it....though I made it more fun by watching it in the cinema whilst dressed as a Dalek....it's a long story...here's proof),
- The Fighter
- Inception
- The Kids Are All Right
- The King's Speech
- 127 Hours
- The Social Network
- Toy Story 3
- True Grit
- Winter's Bone
- The Town
- How To Train Your Dragon
- Alice in Wonderland
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 1
- I Am Love (Io sono l'amore)
- Exit Through The Gift Shop
- Restrepo
- Tangled
- Country Strong
- Day & Night, The Gruffalo, Let's Pollute, The Lost Thing, Madagascar, carnet de voyage
- The Confession, The Crush, God of Love, Na Wewe, Wish 143
- Tron: Legacy
- Iron Man 2
It's been a lot of fun and tomorrow evening I'm going to pop on my poshest frock, do my hair, face and nails, tut at some of the evening wear being walked down the red carpet, ooooh at lots of others (and yes, you know me, I'll be sketching quite a few of them for inspiration too) and seeing if my favourites and/or predictions actually win.
So here's my list. There are categories where the movie, person or song I want to win isn't the same as the movie, person or song I think will win - so if there are two names next to the category my favourite is the red name and the blue name is who/what I suspect will actually win:
Actor in a Leading Role: Colin Firth, James Franco
Actor in a Supporting Role: Christian Bale
Actress in a Leading Role: Natalie Portman
Actress in a Supporting Role: Helena Bonham Carter, Hailee Steinfeld
Animated Feature Film: Toy Story 3

So there you go. Who do you reckon will win? Who do you want to win? Drop me a comment and then we can watch the ceremony together and see whether justice is served ;)
Right now, I'm off to bed to get some beauty sleep before the big day haha and possily to download the ABC Digital Oscar Backstage Pass for my iPhone because I keep hearing people rave about it.
