Yes, I said it.....despite the Brit in me wanting to say "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" and feeling rather alien saying "Happy Holidays", there's a ridiculous battle going on over this side of the pond about the merits of the HH over the MC (as if there aren't bigger things to worry about and put time and effort into in this world). cctate outlines what's been going on if you haven't heard about the kerfuffle and I have to say I totally agree with her points of view.....even if Happy Holidays, as I say, sounds a little strange said with a British accent.
Aaaaanyway, it's Christmas Eve's Eve here in our house and we've keeping up traditions.....baking sausage rolls and cookies...
....building a gingerbread village (another of the Christmas Bucket List tasks done and dusted)...
...eating the delicious sausage rolls and cookies...
...sprinkling dessicated coconut snow on the gingerbread village...
....playing Mario Cart on the Wii......me getting shouted at by the rest of the family for continually falling into dark bits of the sea or off the sides of racetracks. Yes, it's all pretty normal here.
If you follow my twitter or instagram, you might have seen we bought another Christmas tree in the sales (yes, they've started already). We were going to wait until next Christmas to buy a slightly taller tree for the living room, but Target had them half price so it would be rude not to....
I like it a lot. Mr D says it needs more colour, but the living room tree is my traditional one so I like keeping the decor to red, white and gold. It's the one I put all the decorations the kids make at school and the ornaments they chose each year (every year we go out specially so they can choose a new one each). My white tree in the sewing room is my colourful, silly, geeky tree.
Anyway, Melchett is nagging me to get off the computer and come help her bake one last batch of cookies for the day, so I'd better go.
I'm not sure how much I'll be posting on Fanbloomingtastic over the next few days, but if you want to keep up with photos of what we're up to, I'll definitely be posting them throughout the festivities on it's sister blog www.absobloominglutely.tumblr.com so if you're interested, check it out from time to time. Over there right now are pics from our latest Christmas lights safari last night and how we decorated my car (another of the Christmas Bucket List tasks crossed off).
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas (haha feet in both camps) from all of us, Tempest/Sarah, Mr D, Goth Child and Melchett xx
