Pop across to my tumblr Absobloominglutely and you'll see that this week I'm blue (no, actually I'm quite jolly....but the Sew Weekly challenge this week is a very open "make something blue") so I'm listening to lots of Billie Holiday and making a blue something with some gorgeous hibiscus fabric. Oh, go on then, I'll show you here as well....
Here's the fabric:
(Lovely find at SAS Fabric discount store again - 5 yds at $3.99 a yd).
And here's how far I've progressed so far this week:
Yes, you're totally correct I shouldn't be sitting here chatting to you when I've still got so much to do. In my defence I've had Goth Child off school for 3 days with a really serious stomach virus (she's lost 5lbs.....which bearing in mind she's only just over 100lbs in weight and 5'7" is a bit concerning to say the least.......that's 2kg lost, 45kgs and 1.7m tall in metric and about 7 stones for those of you, like me who work in a crazy mix of imperial and metric, did I cover all the bases there?)
Oh, and surprise surprise I started getting stomach cramps this morning so I REALLY should be sewing in case I fall prey to her lovely virus too.
But anyway....I'm here, so let's make this quick.
I was supposed to be getting ahead of the game sewing this week as next week is end of term, and the kids are about to have 'Fall Break' (like half term but 2 weeks and the end of a school quarter....yes, I know American schooling is complicated). Their grandparents are going to be over from England and we're doing some mini road-trips to the Grand Canyon and Tombstone (actually at opposite ends of Arizona) and taking them to their first baseball game.
So, as I say, I need to get ahead because who knows how much sewing time I'll get.....and I can't miss the opportunity of using the Grand Canyon and Tombstone as backdrops for photoshoots. Especially as the Sew Weekly challenge in 2 weeks time is "Western".
And next week I'm going to try and work some magic on this sack for the "Refashion under $10 (£6)" Sew Weekly challenge:
I bought it for $7 in a JCP sale just after moving to America and not knowing American sizes (no, I didn't try it on first, I knew it was big enough and that I could always do something with it, and it said on the price tag it had originally been $59....and you know what I'm like for bargain hunting).
Do you like my "I'm trying to look as unattractive and dowdy as possible Before so the After pics with make-up and accessories and proper lighting will hopefully look more of a dramatic change" face?
Hmmm fits sooooo well. Not. I shall be hitching it up, taking it in and generally Tempestifying it.
